This is what I'm up to nowadays.

Last winter, I finished up working with a firm I had been with for 10.5 years. Over that time, I worked in their NY office for a few months, Singapore for 3.5 years, Austin for 3 years, and then remotely from Washington, D.C. for 3.5 years. It was a good run, but the last few years was a huge transition for me.
I had moved to D.C. knowing (or so I thought) that I would have to find a new industry to work in. There just aren't any HFT or trading firms in D.C., and all the ones worth working for are up in NY and don't really do remote work anymore (again, or so I thought).
I started going all in on a project that I was looking to turn into a full blown media company, True Pros Media. The ideas was that True Pros would have at its core a series of books that consists of interviews with 10-15 professionals in a given industry, all with different roles. I kicked things off back in the summer of 2023 when I reached out to a couple of folks from Real Estate Twitter (RETwit) and got support. Then from October of 2023 to February of 2024, I flew around the country and interviewed 12 industry pros who will be the subject of the first book, True Pros of Commercial Real Estate. The plan was to supplement the books with Newsletters and a Podcast.
I'm happy to say, I've completed the book and it is available for sale on my website and will be available on Amazon and all other bookstores in the next 1-2 weeks. I'm pretty proud of it, as it was a lot harder to complete than I thought it was going to be. But I got the hardcover and print copies a few days ago, and the book looks great. I spent a ton of time on the content and I think it will be worth the read for a lot of people.
However, about a month ago I got an unexpected job opportunity, and it turns out there's a firm where some of my old colleagues work at, and when a spot opened up, they recommended me. I wasn't really looking for a job, but this is a top tier firm, and all the people I know who work there say it's a great place to be. After interviewing with them, I felt it was way too good an opportunity to pass up, and last week, I signed the papers and will be starting there in July. I'm really excited and can't wait to get started.
As for True Pros, well, with the book finally being done, I feel I completed my main purpose, which was to put this book out there. Now I'll be able to see how its received and depending how things go, perhaps there's a future there. But, this job I've signed up for is going to be 100% my main focus, so even if in a year or two, the book gets some traction, I can only assume that anything else will be far on the back burner. I will continue to maintain the community page and resource page to see what kind of traction those get. If it proves helpful to people, it may be something I can look to do in my spare time 1-2 hours a week. We'll see.
My daughter is now 8 years old, and I see her as often as I can. She's in 2nd grade now and doing great. In about two weeks, my girlfriend and I will be taking her on a trip to Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, and ending at the pools of Las Vegas.
I still have my English Bulldog, Duke. Little guy is 10 years old now and is still as spritely as a pup. He's such a good boy.
This past February, my girlfriend finished up her 10 years working on Capitol Hill and we took a much needed break and had an amazing trip down in South America. From Rio, to the northern Chilean desert, to Patagonia in southern Chile, then over to Bueno Aires, we spent about 3.5 weeks down there. It was awesome. Crazy to think that just a few months earlier in the fall we had an amazing trip to Budapest, Prague, Salzburg, and Vienna.
Getting back to my health and wellness regiment and looking forward to starting with the new firm. Let's go!
